Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered many other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report early analysis indicate the substance was most likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
City officials said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for information.
An important political figure said the attack made him without words and required to be addressed quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
